NASA has announced the 2009 WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) Space Telescope has a new mission and a new name: NEOWISE (Near Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer)!

Not all meteors make it to earth….whole, or even in part. And we know from the history of Barringer Meteor Crater that even if they do strike earth, they may still vaporize and burn up, leaving almost nothing but fragments.

As you might expect, we receive many requests from folks to determine wether or not they have found a meteorite~ and its often is challenging to help! The Institute for Earth and Space Exploration has set up a handy flowchart to help you establish if your find is a meteorite!
