Perfect Pingualuit Crater

NASA image created by Jesse Allen, using Landsat data provided by the University of Maryland’s Global Land Cover Facility.

1.4M years old, yet never disturbed by glaciers nor rivers, this is the perfect study of climate, biology and meteoritics in one place! Named for its Inuktitut term for cold-weather-induced skin blemishes- due to its location in an extremely cold climate zone, it has provided evidence of warmer climates in the years since its impact formation.
