Dual Asteroid Redirection Test SUCCESS!

The World’s first planetary defense test- to redirect an asteroid off its orbit- was a perfect success. On September 26, the 10 month journey from earth to the asteroid Dimorphos ended with a bulls-eye kinetic impact! The next steps are studying how much the impact altered its orbit and how this data will inform our efforts to defend earth from potential asteroid impacts.
